This is a great book to read with children in a classroom when you are talking about kindness and making new friends.
Literary Elements
1. Onomatopoeia -This book has a few examples of onomatopoeias. For example, the author creates the sense of the phone ringing by writing "BRINGGGG!!" Students could see how they can read that and almost hear a phone ringing in their heads. If I were to create a lesson on onomatopoeias, I could use this book and show students how to use it in their writing so that not only is the writer reading their stories but also hearing them as well.
2. External Conflict - Trixie has an external conflict when she is fighting with her classmate about the pronunciation of "Knuffle."
3. Attitude - Trixie's attitude toward her classmate changes when she bonds with her in the middle of the night during the exchange of their bunnies.
